Garry's Mod addons - Where do I put them?

I've managed to download some PHX addons for garry's mod, and they fitted fine in the "Addons" folder. Problem is, seems that map, NPC and wire downloads don't work in the same folder. CAn anyone direct me to the correct placement of downloads?

No idea. I can't even get the Wiremod files anywhere.

Maps go in the Maps folder.

I tried putting the maps there, but they still don't work.
Anyway, the ones I'm most interested in are the Wire mods: things like the Portal gun, Anti Noclip and Parachutes.

I think I know the problem. Which version of Gmod are you using?

    Version 10.

When there's a folder with a notepad called "info.txt" in it, that folder goes in the addons. DId you put that one in your addons?

Some of them don't have info.txt, but do have .txt applications. I think this is because they are not official Wire/Phx etc Addons. Also, I am putting them in the Addons folder but they are still not being read by my computer. Weird.

EDIT: trying something new for the maps. Since they are (strangely) in a .sav file, I am trying putting them in the SAVE folder, since all the rest of the maps are .bsp or something.

    You got it, Darthlife.

.sav doesn't go in the maps folder, it goes in the SAVE folder. .bsp files go in maps, and folders with a .info.txt text file go into your addons. And yeah...I think it's because they're not official, they're Third Party.

It's cool now. I worked it out. The wire stuff needed to be taken OUT of the folder and into Addons on its own.
I'd also like to give a hint to other people who are having trouble with placing stuff in the right folder: Read the description of the download, most times it tells you where to put it. If it links to a larger description, follow it and read.

Well, that's good, have fun with Wiremod!

But now my sound is screwed...because of some Counter Strike Source gun model I downloaded
