:| DID anyone ever see some strange bullsquid like creature while riding on the body holder thing, you know, in the Citadel? (it was on a conveyor belt)

Been posted a few times, you can also see it if you open up the half life model viewer and check it out.
It's also in the prima guide thing.
It's just a creature that the combine forced some certain evoloution things on.

It's called a 'mortar-' something so are the other squid looking things. The ones you have in the picture appear to have some sort of projectile attack, and a running/charging attack.

I just opened it in the viewer, didn't find any problems.

"Mortar-Synth" I think. All the biomechanical alien machines are synths: the strider, the gunship, the dropship and those two on the conveyors that ended up only making a cameo in the final game.

this is what is says in the strategy guide:

"Crab-synth and Mortar-synth

you have only the briefest of glimpses of these strange, inhuman contraptions: self-replicating and part-replacing synths, the backbone of the combine's subsequent armies. Crab synths with their sharp mandibles are close quarter ripping fiends, while mortar synths utilize biomechanical armaments and shells to wreak havoc on the humans they are about to destroy."

this is all the information on them that i could find in the stategy guide.

oh, that's one of the monsters that you don't actually GET to fight. There's three of such monsters that I can recall.

2. The Combine Overlord that you see Dr. Breen talking to.
3. That water monster that was about to bite you as you teleported into the water, during Dr, Kleiner's attempt to teleport you to Eli's Lab.

Anyone care to comment on the third one?

It's Half-Life 1's Icthysaur, remodeled but sadly not available to fight... could always load up HL1 of course...

A person in another thread said that you can fight it, AI and everything. You have to be in a water area like "Water Hazard" and type sv_cheats 1 and then give npc_icthyosaur. Then be ready to get scared.

I played Half-Life: Source and killed an icthyosaur and it floated to the surface and bobbed up and down. It was beautiful.
