It kinda makes me pleased that they had to go out to Seattle to play through the entire game.
Assuming that they had one just day (maybe a little extra) to play/make notes/finish the game, I think its safe to say that OUR experience of the game will be much greater than any games journalist'.

Just think about all the things they could have done during the game, but couldn't in the time they had...

Surely if they had the game at work, at home or wherever else they usually review games, and took more time to experience HL2, the review scores would have been much more in-depth and they would have (possibly) rated HL2 higher.

Thoughts, anyone?

All future reviews should take place in the reviewers' home/workplace. I know that a guy on the staff of the site I write for has had his name added to the reviewers list on Steam - don't know if he'll be getting the game early or not, though.

You make a good point, but on the other side of the coin you could say the reviewers were so hyped up about the game in the 2 days they got to play it that they didn't say a bad thing. I hope this isn't the case but there have been games that I've loved for a week then took all my 'best game ever' comments back later. I just hope this isn't the case though - HL2 will rock :)

Or, with time to pick it apart, they may have rated it lower. Sorry to be the pessimist, but you know it's another possibility. And no, i'm not saying it is really gonna suck.

And, for most of the reviews, the scores could'nt get much higher. If when you sit down and actually play the game, it is 4-5% better, then it isn't that much of a difference, and if you are saying it could have gotten 100% then I say I doubt that, as NO game is perfect.

Heheh, it's good to be slightly pessimistic so we're more suprised when we actually play it :)
