Incidentally, what can I crossfire my 4850 with? Am I just limited to the 4850 range (or to the same manufacturer at that), or can I scoop a 4870 out of the bargain bin sometime next year and give my PC that little extra shelf-life?

I'm 90% sure you can only use the same card when using crossfire and SLI. They can be from different vendors, and have different clocks and minor differences like that, but they must be the same chipset. So no, you cant mix a 4850 with a 4870.

Damn I would buy this but I'm low on money right now..and I would need a new motherboard, and therefore new cpu and ram otherwise I'd buy it.

5. What happens when graphics cards with varying memory speeds and engine clocks are paired together?

A. In this scenario, overall performance will be adjusted to match the memory speeds and engine clocks of the lower clocked card. To obtain ideal performance, graphics cards should be paired correctly.

Can't wait for lucid to get their stuff out so we can see how it performs.

I've been tempted to buy this card since it's already been at a ridiculously low price. Now I have no choice.
