If you’re brand new to the World of Warcraft franchise, you are in for a great experience getting to know the games’ heroes and villains. It’s not uncommon for seasoned players to spend countless hours grinding and leveling up in World of Warcraft, and through all that time, there is often a bunch of characters you cannot help but remember. While o that subject, here’s a list of some of our favorite characters seen in World of Warcraft. Some are larger than others, but we believe they are some of the best.
5. Lord Serpentis
Many of the characters mentioned in this article have some kind of backstory, while Lord Serpentis makes an appearance towards the latter part of Wailing Caverns as a boss. Many horde side players will have seen this dungeon early on and ventured through it several times. Naralax headed into the Wailing Caverns, closely followed by Lord Serpentis, to carry out a selfless deed of curing a wasteland known as The Barrens into a life-sustaining haven.
It does not go as planned and is instead infested with horrors inside the Wailing Caverns. It does not take long for Lord Serpentis to be slain. It’s up to players to cleanse the area, knocking Lord Serpentis out of the way almost every time.
4. Mankrik
In position 4 is a cool orc who comes bundled with his wife Olgra after enemies attached them. Following a fight with several Quillboars, Mankrik passed out, and when he awoke, Olgra had vanished. Several World of Warcraft adventures resulted in him never finding her body, and as you’d expect, he is ready to claim his revenge. He built a shrine to Olgra and now resides in the Southern Barrens, ready to tackle the homelands to the Quillboars.
3. Illidan Stormrage
The story of Illidan was one that was incredibly back and forth. Appearing as one of The Burning Crusade’s last bosses as well as a return in legion, this guy took the role of hero and villain through the Warcraft story. At the end of Warcraft 3, he attacked Arthas and defended Black temple against swathes of players. He utilizes the dual blades of Azzinoth to become an extremely brutal opponent, taking down anyone that crosses his path in the multiverse. He is certainly one of the coolest characters we’ve seen in the franchise, but others might argue he shouldn’t be on this list!
2. Vol’jin
Heading up the entire Horde is Vol’jin, although it took a while to claim this position. The Echo Isles were reclaimed by him, which ensured trolls could not team up to control the world and banish the Horde Warchief to claim his position. He is among our favorites, although since the first WoW installment many new players turn to Character Boosting for a smoother experience. Some might argue he is the most caring and important character of the entire fiction.
1. Chen Stormstout
Our favorite WoW character position goes to Chen Stormstout, who has his finger in lots of different pies throughout the lore of World of Warcraft. One thing that stands out for Chen Stormstout is that mouse people overtook his family’s legendary brewery. Players had an epic time reclaiming that brewery back in the Mists of Pandora. An evil beer monster claimed the spot for the boss at the end of the dungeon, truly amazing.
