I've seen a few of these in the past few days, so I figured I'd make a thread about it.

I'd say Gladiator with Russell Crowe, best revenge story ever. And it's really sad the way his family is CRUCIFIED FFS.

Plus he has an awesome name: Maximus Decimus Meridius.

    A Walk to Remember

I cried, because it was sad to know Mandy Moore was going to die of cancer.

Saddest movie ever - Grave of the Fireflies.

Favourite romance movie - Lost in Translation (as much for the humour tbh)

hmm loads, some war flicks f.e:

the endng of the the thin red line- the part with private witt made me pretty sad...

the end to when trumpets fade - a hbo ww2 movie about that battle in the hurtgen forest

    ending to stalingrad...

    a midnight clear..

a lot of these i saw when i was younger so dunno if they would still have an impact like back then..

the ending to gallipoli was a ****ing kick in the gutt, really quite shocking and devastating even though you could see it coming :( it will stay with you.
    others:

    gattaca.
    philadelphia.
    mysterious skin.
    leaving las vegas.
    passion of the christ.

You really need to be in the right head space to appreciate it. I tried to watch it a second time and couldn't make it past the half hour mark. It's very very chill and laid back, but in a touching way.

Also, Bill Murray ftw. Which reminds me I keep meaning to check out Broken Flowers every time I'm at the video store, heard it was good too.

Holy shit, I used to LOVE that movie. I also used to love dinosaurs, so maybe I was biased. I don't remember too much about the story, except that there was a little flying bugger called Petri. I remember it being sad in parts, but not why.

Man, I need to track that down and get some major nostalgia tripping going...

Does Forrest Gump count? When I watched it (I think I was 10 at the time), I was almost in tears at the end.

I don't really remember the end anymore.

Requiem for a Dream, even though I wasn't crying or anything, counts as my favorite Sad movie.

Christ, damn true.. was watching it off and on and even then I was like "woah... soothing".

Also, I agree that the Land Before Time is sad :( Whoever said The Thin Red Line and Gallipoli are too right as well. Thin Red Line didn't kick me in the gut until the morning after watching it though.

I enjoyed the Terminal as well :|.

I'd say the saddest movies for me would have to be Requiem For A Dream, followed by Lost in Translation.
