    Mine: Ted Nugent - Homebound

Please, to keep this open, give an explanation.

I personally love this song because it gives me a feeling of hope that I can't describe beyond the uplifting guitar riff. The overall song demonstrates a great feeling of happiness for being on one's way home after a long time away... I think it captures that feeling very well and I can't hope but feel good when I hear this song.

    Post yours.

I consider most things by Sigur Ros to be instrumental since they sing in gibberish.

Ravel's Pavane for a Dead Princess is fantastic.
    And Beethoven's Pathetique.

Explosions in the Sky -- too many tracks to choose because they're all instrumental.

But if I had to pick the one that pretty much sums up everything, I'd go for The Birth and Death of the Day:

For really chill instrumental tracks, I like Brian Eno (An Ending(Ascent) and The Big Ship) and World's End Girlfriend (We Are The Massacre).

Hm. This is a tough one for me as I'm unsure as to where the line from instrumental to created ambiance is drawn - it would be fair to say there isn't one, really, so for me there's a pretty big list to choose from for all round favourites.

A personal favourite (for very personal reasons) is (untitled) from ISIS' Oceanic album; the middle section of that album that divides the early droning start and leads the end of the album into it's crushingly heavy finale. However, this track leads into Maritime which is the ''true'' instrumental track of the album. If you keep in mind that Oceanic is themed around water then a track like this never fails to take my breath away for just how well crafted it is to the records concept. I urge everyone to listen to these two tracks.

Cannot recommend the album Oceanic enough to people. I grew tired of metal a few years ago, I wanted something a little more from it... and then I heard this album out of the blue. Completely opened me up to unique, experimental, innovative and generally more thought-out metal.

Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotryhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsECgXyPaowDespite not listening to any ambient artists, with a few minutes' inspecting my collection I think there are a great number of instrumental tracks I could point to and say 'I love that track'. However, only this track immediately floats to the top of my mind at the very mention of 'good instrumentals'.

Arghoslent are a bunch of racist tools, but they also know how to lay down a masterclass in riff crafting. Normally I don't go for this kind of straight-up, melodic heavy metal with swaggering bluegrassy influences, but I love the atmosphere of sadness-tinged pride that drips from this track. It reminds me of walking my old dog across the flatlands near my old house, in weather both clement and inclement, feeling unabashedly good about the good things in life despite also knowing how shit it can be.

The last 2-3 seconds are missing.

I totally haven't watched these videos personally so I apologize in advance if they have shitty images/sound quality.

    Most of Devlab.

    And anything by Skinny Puppy.

    EDIT:

Oh, and pretty much all of Ghosts I - IV, Trent's best sober work IMO.

And as I sit here, listing a lot of NIN, wearing a NIN jacket... I think to myself, hey, maybe I'm a fan of NIN.

Cool, I like helios. My favorite songs of theirs are Emancipation and Halving the Compass.

For classical music, I like some of the more modern stuff -- Philip Glass, Henryk Gorecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, and Arvo Part's Fratres... especially the quiet part after the piano comes in at ~ 1:25, and then the violin part at 2:30.

I also like some of Debussy's piano pieces (although a lot of them are just weird), Liszt, Chopin, and Beethoven.
