I just watched this movie.. I had to have seen it over 15 times and I still get chills down my spine at the end during those quotes. I love it. It is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time for sure. It is also one of the few movies to really leave an impression on me.

Awesome movie, definitely one of my favorites too. I'm glad they show it on tv all the time ^_^ It gets kind of boring when that one kid comes along to get his GED and then gets shot, but other than that its pretty good at keeping you watching considering how long it is. (Even after the twentieth time seeing it)

    It's a great film.

I watched it on the theathers a long time ago (it was nearly empty), it's now #2 on IMDB.

The director that made this made The Green Mile, another great Stephen King novel.

The ending is the greatest part, where Red goes and meets Andy in mexico, cool movie overall.

The first time I saw the ending to this

    Show Spoiler
I was literally grinning and laughing my ass off. Every trial the main character faces you feel his pain, and every time he overcomes it, for every victory he achieves you can't help but cheer, especially the ending. Possibly one of the best endings of all time, and definitely one of my favourite movies.

People, PLEASE use the spoiler tags, some people haven't seen it and it's really easy to ruin something just by scrolling past some of this stuff. It's happened to me a few times on these forums.

Agreed (especially with above post), it's one of my fav films as well.

I like Memento a lot as well, although it's a different kind of film.

The movie is brilliant - bought it on DVD. I'm currently reading the book aswell, the movie is very true to the book so far, except in the book there are a lot more Wardens. I would really recommend the book, some of Stephen's King finest work.

One of my favourite films in the entire world. Morgan Freeman's a god. One of the few films I've cried at. But in a manly lumberjack kind of a way.

Oh ok! It's this really peculiar but utterly hilarious British comedy set in a zoo. I doubt many people watched it, so I doubt there'll be a second series, sadly.

But yeah, it's a good quote:)

What was it called? Boosh? I seem to recall seeing a british comedy set in a zoo not too long ago, sounds familiar.

The Mighty Boosh. And yeah it wasn't too long ago. The two main characters were called Howard Moon (who the quote is in reference to) and Vince Noir.

Ha, I watched that once. There was a reason why it was on BBC 3.

Actually, I can't remember whether I found it funny or not.

Yeah all the obscure stuff gets shifted ont' Beeb3. If it does ok then maybe BBC2.
I can understand why you wouldn't like it. It can be very obtuse and you either love it or hate it, I think.

Just to get back on topic for a few minutes...
The Shawshank Redemption is going to be re-released to the big screen for its 10 year aniversary. Either this month or next month I think. So get out there and see it the way it was meant to be seen!

One of my favorite films too, everything about it is done so well. And I love his escape. I wont buy it on DVD though cause I'd watch it too much and would probably get bored of it, which I don't want to do.

Yeah, that's the one. Haven't seen it in a while... should get it out again sometime.

Yeah, I'd rather it that way, too. Like whenever a song I like becomes a single I boycott the radio for two weeks :p

Anyway aside from the first time I saw it on video, it's been on TV twice and I watched it right through both times. Might have to check it out again if it comes to cinemas.
