Yay 2.2! Been using 2.2 roms on my Droid for a few months now, and I've been impressed with how much better it is than 2.1.

It sucks that my G1 can't be updated past 1.9 or so because it's too slow. I want a new phone.

I'm sorry for bumping and double posting in this thread, but I just wanted to say to anyone who hasnt tried Swype (I'm sure most of you have heard of it or used it), go download the apk for it right now. Seriously, this app has completely changed how I text people. I can text at least 5 times faster than I used to, allowing me to express myself almost as well as an actual keyboard. Its also just a ton of fun to use. Go try it if you havent already.

Wait what! People are using something else than swype for text input? It's like choosing between PS3 and Nokia 3110 for gaming.

Second note, if you use the blizzard mobile authenticator DO NOT ****ING FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE. Got my account locked and I have totally forgotten my secret question...

Theres a rumor going on that 3.0 android SDK will be released next week. I doubt it but since rumors are popping up this can only mean we're getting close to the launch.

Well, I have only had my phone for a month... I had heard a lot about Swype but wasnt sure if it was practical enough for everyday use. Boy was I wrong.

Also I find it amusing that there is talk of 3.0 being close to launch, and I still dont have 2.1 :p

I bought SwiftKey for their promotion at 99cents. its the best app, making texting a breeze and everytime I use it, the program gets smarter. I only type about half of what I used to because its very adaptive!

Yes, if you use the Blizzard Authenticator, DISABLE IT OFF YOUR ACCOUNT FIRST. This can't be stressed enough, because as Bakurei has said, you're ****ed unless you remember all ur backup info.

Also, 3.0, can't wait. the Moto Droid 1 isn't supposed to be getting it, but I can see someone making a custom rom with it.

I think it was Beta, now it's down and they haven't brought it back yet?

You can find the APK for the Incredible if you just Google it or go to www.androidforums.com and search the Incredible sub forum.

Guns'n'glory and Angry Bird are two very fun free games i like to play on breaks at work. guns is like a wild west tower defense game and angry bird is an arcade style shooteris all about physics and trajectory.

Yeah, I've got Angry Birds already. I also have Block-Out, which is a pretty decent puzzle game. But man, this phone drains its battery like nothing else. My old phone could go like 3 days on one charge texting once in awhile and me checking the time constantly. I've done pretty much the same thing today and the battery is almost dead after being full charged this morning. Definitely going to have to save some dough to get the really expensive extended battery.

yeah i got the extended battery and its even debatable if its even worth a damn. i now turn my phone off at work anyway because i don't use it unless i really need it. i'd love smartphones a bit more though if they A) started up faster and B) had 10 times the battery life.

While I was in DC the battery life on the EVO absolutely killed me. Using GPS or maps and I would have a few hours of life tops. There is a extended battery for the evo I am going to buy, says it will triple the life. If I'm just texting and talking on the phone I can get a full day out of the battery no problem, doing anything more extreme and it's only a few hours.

Does anyone know of a good notes app? I found extensive notes which is cool but it bugs me because it doesn't have a widget. Notes (and calandar) is one of the main things I use my phone for.

Awesome, Xperia X10 finally has 2.1 in Canada! :D

Say what you will about being behind the curve, I'm just glad to enjoy some new features (more colours, HD video recording, faster software, better app compatibility and live wallpapers).

So it looks like Sprint totally disabled tethering options on my phone to the point where even apps that work on the nexus don't work on mine. So I want to root this phone but I'm a bit worried about bricking it. Anyone have any good sites/tutorials for rooting an EVO?

I was getting kinda concerned about my battery life, since I was hardly using it, and yet within a like 11 hours it was dropped to <50%. The android system was using like 94% of the battery, and nothing else showed up in what was using battery except for standby and phone idle, even when I was using games, pandora and the web browser. I read that sometimes when your phone gets an update, it may mess with the battery reading, and to solve it you just let your battery die completely, and then charge it full while its off. Seems thats what my problem was. Now its been 11 hours since it was plugged in, and I'm still ~90% on my battery.

About a week ago an update window appeared on my leg-end and I let out a little yay. Haven't noticed a earth-shattering amount of difference tbh, but getting stuff like live wallpapers reassures about the capability of the hardware. Oh, it's chugging a little right now but hey, £12.50 a month.

The Swype beta finally re-opened so I got in. Using it to type this now, but I don't get how to add spaces fluently. It never seems to work, so I have to hit space after each word.

Also, 2.3 has been released by Google for the Droid. Woooo, now to wait for the Roms to get it.

I too got in to the swype beta. Too bad it doesn't have Finnish. The interface and color scheme looks way better than in the Samsung Galaxy S or the .apk I have. The new beta is also much faster.

If you have the new swype, don't let your battery die or it will stop working and you will have to reinstall. Which is a pain in the ass with swype.

What are the recommended apps I should get? This phone is AWESOME

Also, how do I set a custom ringtone from an mp3 file? New phones are always so confuzzling.
    nevermind, ringdroid is useful

Anyone try the winamp app yet? I just downloaded it the other day but it looks really promising. I can finally create playlists and sync over wifi without any issues. It also includes last.fm integration which pulls album art and artist info.

I've been somewhat jumping around between DoubleTwist, PowerAmp, and WinAmp. They all are extremely valuable and have promising features. All 3 have their own lockscreen players, but they don't really play nicely with WidgetLocker.

I honestly can't tell you which one I prefer at the moment because I'm still trying to find one I like. :)

Do you first have to import your itunes list to winamp? Or are you able to sync directly from iTunes? because I haven't figured that part out yet, would be a huge thing for me.

I just use the stock MusicMod player that comes with Cyanogen 6.1. I have Winamp installed, but haven't found a reason to fully use it.

Well last night as I wanted to sync my playlist I had issues, winamp wouldn't copy the actual music. I've been trying to ditch my old ipod touch for a while now trying all sorts of things but I just can't find a good way to keep my phone synced properly. Really frustrating.
