Does anyone else experience Steam cutting off the internet for all programs except itself when downloading a game? This happened with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and I thought it was a fluke, but it's happening again now with COD4.

It's not too much of a problem, since I tend to leave downloads overnight, but if anyone has a solution I'd gladly hear it.

I have the same thing, almost always just after 6PM. I'm on BT, and I'm curious to see if you are too. I don't think there's any way to stop it other than getting a new ISP.

Your router might be locking up with all the connections. Happens with lower quality routers. Try power cycling it (unplug and plug it back in).

My modem use to do that, but it was because it was 4 years and on its last legs

Yup, I'm on BT. They limit my downloads terrible before real late at night.

Guess I'll just have to live with it.

I didn't have the cutoff problem today until 10PM. I guess the rules are different on Bank Holidays...
