• Steam Community Update Day #2 - Group Updates

    The next focus of the Steam Community Update is going to be Steam Groups. Among the new features touted for groups are personalized game listings, the ability set a default language, and group discussion areas that act as forums.

    A quick look at the promo images available make it apparent that the UI and page design will receive major work as well. The Steam Community Update hub has a couple shots of the new group interface here.

    The next two days' updates are out, a closed beta has started, and every one can access the new Steam Community group page (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NewSteamCommunityBeta) and 'TF2's' game hub (http://steamcommunity.com/app/440).

    It is good that they're trying to get everything in one place, even if the disposition is a bit confusing. While the talk of empowering the community to bring the best content to the top may be inflated, I think the overal design does more useful things than what we have now. The group pages especially look more professional.
