For every Day 1, there is always a Day 2. Well, not always, but you get the point. In Day 2 of the Two Cities Update for Team Fortress 2, Valve have revealed a brand new Mann vs. Machine map known as Rottenburg alongside a series of potentially game changing abilities for the Medic and Soldier. In the new map, teams of up to six players must fight to defend the Medic's "vaguely European" hometown of Rottenburg from hordes of invading robots. The map is previewed alongside the Medic's "Reanimator" and "Projectile Shield" upgrades in the brand new "Sound of Medicine" trailer, which you can check out below. The Reanimator functions as a purchasable update which can instantly bring teammates back to life should they fall in battle. The new device also provides the Medic with "Mad Milk Syringes", which function similarly to the Scout's Mad Milk weapon by coating damaged enemies. Any players who damage coated robots will be healed automatically, thus providing the Medic with improved utility on the battlefield. A new Projectile Shield is also unlocked, which can be activated to protect teammates by electrocuting and destroying all incoming robots and their potentially deadly weaponry. Don't worry if you're concerned for the game's balance, as all of these upgrades are restricted exclusively to the Mann Vs. Machine gamemode. Also included is the "Rocket Specialist" upgrade for the Soldier, which fires faster rockets which temporarily stun any target they fail to kill. Directly hitting a target also increases the explosion's splash damage, causing significant harm to all surrounding robots. Day 2 of the Two Cities Update page also reveals an additional nine achievements, all of which appear to be available exclusively on Rotterburg, the third map set to be included with this rather substantial update. The update is now live, so get out there and destroy some robots! If you feel like you're not quite ready to head into the action just yet, feel free to head on over to our Day 1 announcement post to read all about the other two new maps and some of the other goodies you can now get your hands on.
