I'm half Polish, and my grandmother lost 3/4 of her family in concentration camps. I don't play WW2 games.

As a matter of fact, I tend to avoid modern warfare altogether.

they didnt exist in name but they were their in nature, they were the fathers that trained their kids to fight with bombs. so there is a very real and BIG connection between the two, it takes 1 to teach another. ira is just a name, but terrorism is what will get glorified by this mod.

    whats wrong with counterstrike?

WHO you are an idiot. There were no fathers that taught kids to make bombs during the easter rising. Did you even ****ing read a word I just posted? You are so ignorant. There is no god damn connection between the two. They were not terrorists.

theres a difference between war and terrorism, its a subtle difference but there u go.

ive read the whole thing, are you trying to tell me people were born with the knowledge of bomb making, geurilla warfare, weapons skills or did they learn it from a peer? all those techniques have been past down throught time ( ive seen kids on tv 15 years ago throwing molotovs at the police in ireland ) those kids are now men, whats to stop them teaching thier kids?
of course there is a connection between the two, its called life and reproduction and knowledge.

on another note did u like my suggestions?

On Easter Monday, April 24, 1916, a force of Irishmen under arms estimated at between 1,000 and 1,500 men and women attempted to seize Dublin, with the ultimate intention of destroying British rule in Ireland and creating an entirely independent Irish Republic to include all 32 counties of Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Connaught. Their leaders, Patrick Pearse, James Connolly and the others, knew that their chances of success were so slight as to be almost non-existent. Yet they fought, and died. Why?

The circumstances that led to the Irish rebellion of 1916 are of an intense complexity, historical, social, political and, perhaps above all, psychological. The Irish writer, Sean O'Faolain, has written of his country: 'Most of our physical embodiments of the past are ruins, as most of our songs are songs of lament and defiance. The Easter Rising was a complete failure, which left large parts of Dublin in ruins; yet without it Ireland might never have been free of English rule. The leaders, alive, had very few supporters even among the Irish patriots; dead, they became and have remained their country's heroes. It was a great historical paradox, and one that to this day the British have perhaps never understood. Had they understood it, it is conceivable that the British might still have an empire, since the overthrow of British rule in Ireland marked the beginning of the overthrow of British imperial might in Asia, in Africa, and elsewhere.

    http://www.users.bigpond.com/kirwilli/1916/

Those that fought against the British in the Easter Rising are known as hero's in Ireland. There is a statue commemorating them if I remember correctly.

EDIT: I hope a member of the modern day IRA bursts into your house and throws a Easter Rising history book at your head allowing you to read it before he lights it on fire and shoves in your face. You are an idiot, who.

Let's make a mod about Panda's. Then everyone won't get so ****ed off.

The analogy of World War 2 isn't far off. 1916 was almost 100 years ago, when does it become actual history and not simply past?

Solaris I understand what you're trying to do, but creating your own and claiming influence might be a better route to take. Topics like this won't ever stop popping up. The internet gives everyone the ability to post their thoughts, and they do, often completely oblivious of how wrong they are. It would be a lot less stress to do it with tie-ins but not necessarily based on actual events.

a panda mod would be cool,

i hope this will be my last post on this subject.

in 1916 the ira did take control of a post office as peacefully as possible to promote irish indipendance ( very admirable ). and as a scot i agree with the cause.

unfortunatly in 1969 a sub group was formed by the younger members, they called themsleves the "provisional ira" due to the fact they felt that the ira was not really fighting for thier cause. if this had not happend the conflict between ireland, N ireland, and britain would have ended much sooner.

instead a campaign took place in which every ira member was brought into question. this totally destroyed the integrity of the ira (not the provisional ira, whose identity was made through horrific acts of terrorism)

this is THE link between the two parties, i KNOW that the ira was around in 1916, ITS A DOCUMENTED FACT!, find out for yourself, its a shame that the peace that most of ireland wanted was threatend by the few who wanted "action" something to show for thier efforts, the impatient few that dont understand that change takes place over decades not hours.

if the original ira had been in full control and as peaceful as they ever were there would be a wonderful bond between britain and ireland.

instead im left wondering whether this mod will encourage similar action in the future, amongst the impressionable few ( as we now know four men can kill hundreds ).

unfortunatly every effort for peace thats come out between britain and ireland has resorted in either verbal conflict or physical conflict, i hope that you understand that and try and make a peaceful bond between neighbours.

i dont believe this mod will help the peace, especially now, considering both british and irish politians are still sat around talking about it, if you believe your mod will go unnoticed (in the whole wide world.. thats www.) then u have a cracker short of a bag full of crackers.

i pray for peace thats all i want.

its the power of a, sweet flower, and its gonna rule the earth.
    and the putrid reverse
and i give a flower to the garbage man, and he puts my girl in the garbage can
i give a flower to the big fat cop, he takes his club and he beats me up
and i give it to the landlord when the rent comes round
oh he puts it in the toilet and he flush it down,
and its runnin through the sewer with the yucker runnin through her
and i sing "HEY WORLD YOU STINK!"

i hoped u liked my suggestions for your mod though :D

this is absolutely ridiculous after all that has been said
and the arrogance of you lecturing me as an Irish man about the IRA is mindblowing
your ignorance is only equalled by your pig headeness - you now know that the ira was not in existance in any substantial form in 1916 if at all, that 1916 was a failed rebellion/revolution by thousands and that there is absolutely no lineage between the Irb of 1916(southern ireland only) and the IRA of 1969(northern Ireland) and yet you continue to insist on slamming this mod idea..

    Guerilla Warfare
"A terrorist faction founded in the Middle East, Guerilla Warfare has a reputation for ruthlessness. Their disgust for the American lifestyle was demonstrated in their 1982 bombing of a school bus full of Rock and Roll musicians."

    Leet Crew
"Middle Eastern fundamentalist group bent on world domination and various other evil deeds."

    Phoenix Faction
"The Phoenix Faction was formed shortly after the breakup of the USSR. Having established a reputation for killing anyone that gets in their way, the Phoenix Faction is one of the most feared terrorist groups in Eastern Europe."

    Arctic Avengers
"Swedish terrorist faction founded in 1977. Famous for their bombing of the Canadian embassy in 1990."

None of these describe real terrorist groups. By giving them a fictional background the CS team avoided giving false representations of a race, but gave them enough background for the player to understand that they were 1) a separate entity and not a representation of the society from whence they originated and 2) flimsy and morally unacceptable reasons, albeit false, for their actions.

By choosing to depict a real group you either need to give the player a detailed history that allows the player to understand why this killing is going on (a la Full Spectrum Warrior) or create a fictitious but parallel story.

Games like GTA do tread a tight-rope because they are highly satirical but mimic very closely popular culture. Their popularity leads them to problems when under-age kids get hold of the game (through no fault of its producers). The real questions GTA raises are more social: "Why does GTA depict cops as the enemy?" "Why is is socially acceptable among players to shoot the cops up?" "Who do the cops represent?" "What does this say about the state of American society?"

Its funny how the only reason people are objecting is becuase the IRA are slightly related to it.

Why not protest about having British soldeirs in the mod. After all they started the whole thing, and commited a large number of evils in Irealand.

And what about those British nobles in Braveheart? And the British soldiers who killed people and annoyed us to no end here in the colonies? And those monkeys from Planet of the Apes who talked in British accents and were so mean to Charlton Heston? Damn you and your British-loving mod!

Oh and a Panda ate my grandma, please don't make a Panda mod. :(
