Oh, I thought you meant completed mods. People need to be more inventive with their mods. Do things that havnt been done before. That's why NS did so well.

I know my idea (Page 1) isnt that new, but I've yet to see a decent FPS, singleplayer sword and sorcery besides Morrowind. If anyone knows of one, please, tell me.

That's far more interesting then a horror game (Go play Silent Hill...).

I hate it when you have a body to go on. I'd create at least one (Of hopefully several in a mod where you play a detective, somewhat like sherlock H.) murder mystery where you don't have a body... You have a bloodstain. Several other clues. A drawer might be pulled out (But seems okay) and stuff like that. The body is, As any good detective would think, burried, ey? Actually, it isn't... It's hidden in the house. You need the body before you can prove a murder :).

It'd be a bitch to create such a game but if you get off I'll gladly write stories (And paint up a few houses, schools, or other scenes which you'll be looking at).

I highly trust VALVe has already made this... :/

I now know *three* seperate ideas I'd want to make into a mod, rofl. That game would actually rock so incredibly hard. And like you'd fall down some stairs and your collegues laugh their asses off on your behalf, HAHA!

    Good stuff man.

    Regards

Actually having the player himself (In a kind of in-game studio) create the moves and then bind them to a key would be mucho more fun.

For this you could basically position your character any way you want, then have HL2 create the frames in between (Animate kinda) and tell you how long it would take to come down to that position, and how long you could stay like it. (Anywhere from 0.1 to 2 seconds getting down/doing the stunt).

    Regards
    Dead-Inside

(PS. I couldn't edit this into my first post, I edited everything else I ment to respond to into the other post above though DS.)

Yeah thats not a bad idea. It would take LOTs of coding to add all the new stuff though...i know nothing of the computer languages except BASIC programming :)

Honestly I don't think it'd be *that hard* to generate the frames in between the "regular" stance and the stance you'll go in to (The one you created).

Basically depending on how fast you COULD get into that position, the computer makes up a number of frames which simulate you inbetween, and then shows this to other players, etc. (You'll need to keep a "This would be your vision" in-game screen while you work on your special move, so you know where you could/could not look while doing the stunt :)).

Anyway, I'm all up in my own idea, I just like to help people out. It seems hard to find brainstormers such as myself these days :/.

hehe yea it would be a great mod to make, I may get around to it one day. Only thing is I know it would be very hard to tell a joke without it coming off as corny and forced. I think it would be intresting though to maybe get writers from maybe Redvsblue to write it out. I think it would be somewhat easy to make as well, no need to really create any new models, and you could make some events intertwine with the hl2 sp.

Yea I was thinking about that when I posted, are you suggesting that the player would..go into the menu during the actual game and make the movement right there? I think it would be easier to have a seperate program where you could do them before joining any matches then just save them and bind them. I believe they already had some kind of program like that set up for hl2 so it would make sense to keep it like that.

By "In the game" I didn't mean "in-game", I meant as in a menu inside of the game when you've loaded it up. Doing it in a third part program is what sucks, because it isn't obvious anymore (And there WOULD be people asking 'how to make your own stunt??!!!?!').

Anyway, you can create maybe 5 moves, and when you join a server you upload them (I'm guessing this is the easiest way). What you'll upload will hopefully only be end coordinates (Where your body will be when you're in position) and the server then creates the rest in between, and also sends the end coordinates to all other players, and they also generate the position, timing, etc. But you'd need a bulletproof system here, because if ppl saw different things it could have a tendensy to crash :p

Edit: Btw, what program are we talking here? People aren't supposed to open an EDITING PROGRAM FOR HL2... ROFL!

hmmm rushing out into no-mans land were bombs and bullets are wizzing by bodies bing tossed into the air, then suddenly the Germans rush out to meet you and your men. You take a few down with your '03 but they soon over come you and your men. Now between the pop shots you take at passer by's you begin to deffend yourself with your rifle. Craking heads with the butt of your rifle and impaling your enemy with an 18' knife. Then some how your rifle gets knocked out of your hands, all you have now is your trusty knuckle duster. You begin to go hand to hand with some of your enemies, stabbing and cutting them in percise points across their bodies.

You find and enemies rifle and pick it up. you notice that a large number of men have made their way to the enemies trench. You rush to join them but as you get closer you see you fellow soldiers getting cought in barbed wire and shot. Yet being the quick thinker that you are you toss a couple of grens to blow a path through the wire. You run pass the wire and other soldiers do the same. You jump into the trench and begin to fight with other enemy soldiers. You continue to stab, shoot, stab, shoot, Parrying others attempt to stab. One of the enemy soldiers picks up a grenade, the some one shoots him, he drops it and it blows allies and enemy alike out of the trench in clouds of shredded meat and red mist......

    ......Yeah that sounds boring.

I have thought of the same thing except in 3rd person. This way you can have fist fights, use melee weapons like knives, tomahawks (when having Indian help).

Also think of what would haapen if you used a stick of dynomite inside a saloon. Remember what happens to wood in the e3 demo last year. You caould actuall level a building LOL.

I think a sort of remake of [/QUOTE]
Full Spectrum Warrior would be great, particularly if you could work in co-op. Or perhaps something like Alien Swarm with a top-down only display, leading your small squad of soldiers into abandoned bases, cities with terrified civilians fleeing from alien onslaughts, etc.

It would be nice to see a well-executed RTS come out of such a versatile engine as Source. Has anyone heard if the Natural Selection team will be working on a Source port?

You can really make most war type mods work, so long as you take the proper attitude toward each one. E.g., a serious American Revolutionary war would be boring as ****. But something like the Battlefields Half Life mod you can't help but laugh as you play. Having one shot then running away from people as you reload, only to have them poke you in the head...You respawn, and OMFG THERE'S A BRITON WITH A MUSKET OH SHIT I BETTER SHOOT HIM and he's ten feet away and you miss, and he does too...then you're both frantically reloading until someone else comes in and kills both of you (yea, a tk...just because)...or broad open fields where CS snipers may even have a hard time and you don't have a chance in **** of even having your bullet hit anywhere near them, then as soon as you think that the bad guy gets a headshot on you...making a tower of soldiers by standing on each other, then running around like some terrible british godzilla monster where the stupid americans don't even shoot, they're just staring at the screen because they know it's not there, but it is and they just died from it...

WWII is overdone now though, we've had WWII RTS, TBS, FPS, RPG, RPG/FPS, RPG/RTS, RPG/TBS, RTS/TBS...more than one of each in each category, and all released within the last four years FFS :x

They had better put something original in whatever WWII mod they make for HL2 (you know that someone, SOMEWHERE is already hellbent on doing this besides the DOD team).

Oh well, I shouldn't post when I don't sleep. YEA

A war. Not these squad based mods 6vs6 in very narrow enviroment. What i would like to see is a large map with some objective like capture the village. Both teams would have like 2 mins respawn timer if they die(so it doesnt become a fragfest). Every map would have limited amount of tanks/vehicles/whatever which wouldnt respawn, so they should be used with caution. Like other team loses all its vehicles and so has a disadvantage in moving troops.
Also using tank/vehicle/whatever would restrict your sight to the cockpit/interior so you wouldnt have upper hand against infantry. For example, tank would have hard time spotting infantry without help of teammates and they are sitting ducks alone against rpg-soldiers.
What i else i would like to see is advanced penetration system. If you fire with a crappy rpg to tanks front armor, it wouldnt do any damage. And your kevlar(if not ww2 mod) could actually resist all of the damage from "lesser" firearms.
