Well today the great Iain Banks , author of the Culture novels and many other fiction novels , announced he has terminal cancer.

Very gutted about this , he's an excellent writer and a thoroughly nice bloke. We've had him in our shop many times and always had a good time with him here, very sad news.

Yeah, I read the announcement by him earlier today. Totally gutted. Wasp Factory and Crow Road were the first I read of his years ago. Started reading the Culture books, which were just all sorts of crazy. Brilliant author. Sad day. :(

    Terrible news. Classy proposal though.

Hm. I don't really feel very strongly about this, but I have read some of his work and it's never disappointed. Always a tragedy when a good scifi author kicks the bucket. Pray tell, what kind of shop do you work at?

Awe man, that sucks. I knew it was terminal, and only a matter of time... but damn, that was quick :(
    Rest In Peace, Mr Banks.
