I realized that we are severely lacking in a Halo 3 thread on this forum. So. Anyone else excited for this game, or alternatively, excited AND in the multiplayer beta? btw my 360 is coming back from repairs tomorrow \o/

I played the original Halo's PC demo. Never bothered getting a copy and have paid little attention to the franchise since.
The series has always been far superior on the Xbox. I really don't want this thread to take a turn towards spam so I'm just gonna stop right there
I can't wait for Halo 3. Co-op is always a blast and multiplayer can be seriously good fun - bf, Quake Wars (i've been in the beta for months) still can't match the arcady experience of jumping in a vehicle with a few mates and bouncing over hills with lazers and rockets flying everywhere that Halo does so well. My main concern is single player will be lacking when compared to the original (Bungie dropped the ball with Halo 2) and that multplayer will be a weapons rush. And yes, Halo is far better on the Xbox than on the pc - the difference between one of my fave fps and an very average one. Oh, i'm skipping the beta on this one, even though it came with my copy of Crackdown. Must .. be .. strong ..
I can't wait for Halo 3. I'd LOVE to play in the beta, and yesterday I was looking right at a copy of Crackdown with an invite in it, I think the idea of only playing for 3 weeks is really silly. ?35 is not something I want to dish out for 3/4 weeks playing (I've heard Crackdown is good... then boring, real fast, and from the demo I can see the novolty of co-op wearing off for me after a while) Gonna go to my mates and play the beta anyway.

I'd like a proper evolution of the series. Halo 2 was little more than Halo 1.5, and was a serious letdown. And as somebody who does my online gaming on a PC, the multiplayer (ignoring coop) is not applicable to me. Basically, I'd be excited for Halo 3 if Halo 2 wasn't so shitty. As it currently stands, the jury is still out. I'm awaiting more media to see if its worth getting excited over.
I have an invite to the beta, but I have almost no hope that it'll be good like Halo 1 MP was. I'm actually more excited for the next Halo book to come out
Just the thought of Halp SP with uber gfx and a high res has me excited. Whatever your opinions of the original Halo are, it's hard to argue that certain parts of some levels weren't staggeringly awesome, especially for it's time. I remember on a snow level, forget its name, running from an interior into a large outdoor area right into a large covenant vs marine fire fight. Lazers flying everywhere, vehicles driving/hovering around, people getting killed. It was like being in Starship troopers. Even today i've yet to play a fps that attempts something this, let alone do it so well. More of the same but on a larger scale (imagine multiples of tanks and aircraft and explosions everywhere) would be awesome.

I wonder how shit one must feel as a game dev when you know people only bought your game in order to play in the Halo 3 beta. Like someone wiping their ass off with your paintings o.o
I agree completely. Assault on the Control Room btw - my favorite level. If I had heard one solid iota of evidence that they're bringing Halo 3 MP back more to the Halo 1 roots I'd be 10x more excited for the beta and game. The only evidence we have is the reappearance of the assault rifle and pistol (in some form) and that doesn't really mean much in terms of game flow.
