Neither can I... but we can try! Also no worries, I completely forgot my LAN and monitor cables when I came home for the holidays, so I won't even have access to Reason 5 for at least another day, haha.
When you do record, make sure you record against some sort of silent metronome (like on headphones) so that I can program along with it. I'm using Reason 5 and an imported drumkit, so I need something that has a constant BPM. Time signature can be damn near anything you want, I love odd time signatures :D I'm a huge fan of Tool and prog rock/jazz in general, but anything you listed will be perfect. The drums I'd program would probably sound like Tool, The Mars Volta, or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt-RoSzsEKA except probably not as good.
Thousand Foot Krutch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elIspF-HS-c Project 86 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6qN-HBH54o&feature=related Both were recommended to me by a friend when I brought up Karnivool.
And I return with yet another group here, called Smile Empty Soul. Idk where I first heard them (may have been you) but either way, they kick some ass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idPLRzD6DTY
Heh, found another band on Youtube - Pillar The song Frontline is incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=AL8ZGEyBuNs&a=gFz_O-WoweU&playnext_from=ML
Went out today and got an album by Trapt. Before this I had only heard of the song Headstrong. Idk if you have heard of them or like them so I figured I'd mention it just incase.
Only two bands I listened too almost religiously were Three Doors Down and Breaking Benjamin. Lately though, I've fallen in love with Ivoryline, The Bravery (they incorporate a little bit more of an electronic style into the song), The Color Fred, 30 Seconds To Mars, and for some slightly older stuff, Default and Staind are awesome.

Hey, can't say I'm the biggest guru of knowledge on nu-metal bands, but if you dig a raw kind of nu-metal sound I'd check out Spineshank if you haven't already.
